Most of the time your family stay is close to your school. Around 10-15 min. from school. Exploring the City is best done on foot or in taxi. Cuernavaca is not a large town. In general the taxi fees are not expensive EUR 2.2 / US$ 2.00 / CHF 3.00.

If you spend only few days in Cuernavaca, we suggest to take a taxi. There is no metro in Cuernavaca.

Moreover, Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México (FNM) is the state  company handling the Mexican railway system, nowadays going through a privatisation process, so the service offers a low quality and it is not very  recommendable. This is one the weakness of Mexico, no train is available. This is maybe due to Spanish culture.

Renting a car in Mexico is not cheap. Therefore, if you're alone and do not want to spend too much in transport, a taxi could be a good alternative.
